Comprehensive Training, Competitions, and Performance Opportunities for Skaters
General Info:
• The Juneau Skating Club Figure Skating Program consists of group classes, club ice, competitions, USFS testing, shows, and performance opportunities. Skaters are welcome to register for figure skating activities after completing our learn to skate program or equivalent and registering as a member of the Juneau Skating Club.
• Skaters may choose what kind of classes they want to take and how many times a week they wish to skate. We recommend skating 3-6 days a week with additional off ice activities that assist in the development of endurance, flexibility, core and dynamic strength, and performance and musicality. We encourage all skaters to have one primary JSC coach. This coach can assist a skater and their parents in deciding what are appropriate classes, developing a good on and off ice schedule, and helping tailor a program specific to the skater’s interests and needs.
• Skaters are encouraged to participate in competitions, skating shows, and USFS testing. More information about these activities can be found on the Annual Events pages.
Jumps & Spins classes focus on teaching proper technique when executing the various figure skating jumps and spins.
Synchronized Skating team tryouts are held at the beginning of each skating season. The skaters will work as a group to learn formations and movement patterns.
Figure Skaters are welcome to drop in to club ice sessions. The fee is $20 per drop in. Drop in passes are for Club Ice sessions only. They may be used for other figure skating classes with coaches permission only. Drop in passes must be given to figure skating coach or ice monitor prior to skating. Skaters unable to provide paper drop in pass prior to skating will not be allowed to skate. No cash, checks or “IOU’s” excepted for payment of drop in ice.
Drop-in passes are purchased from the products page in our registration system. You must be signed into your user account to access the products page. Once signed in you will see “Purchase Other Products” on the left side menu list of the registration page. Passes may be printed form your purchase invoice.
